Karoliina Lehtola

Master's degree student in Peace, Mediation, and Conflict research at Tampere University

Karoliina Lehtola was born and raised in Turku, a southern city in Finland, where she completed her bachelor's degree in international relations. Karoliina is currently studying in a master's degree programme in Peace, Mediation, and Conflict research at Tampere University, Finland. Her master’s thesis focuses on male survivors and the key role organisations have in supporting them in Uganda. She is interested in fostering transdisciplinary research and strengthening the multi-sectoral response to sexual violence in conflicts. In the future, she hopes to continue researching this topic and contribute to discussions on CRSV against men, including LGBTQI+ individuals. Before studying at Tampere University, she worked in Namibia and numerous East African countries. During her internship in Northern Uganda, she learned about the effects of war among the conflict-affected Acholi communities, particularly CRSV in post-conflict settings.
